History of Sijunjung Regency





In the reign of the Dutch East Indies Sawahlunto regency / Sijunjung including Afdeling Solok region with its capital in Sawahlunto. Section has several Onder Afdeling Solok, one of them is Onder Afdeling Sijunjung with the mother country Sijunjung. This lasted until the days of Japanese rule. After the proclamation of independence of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 1945, in October 1945 formed Tanah Datar District with its capital in Sawahlunto whose territory includes several kewedanan, namely stone cage, Padang Panjang, Solok, Sawahlunto and Sijunjung.

In order to continue the struggle for independence, Military Governor of West Sumatra, by decree No. SK / 9 / GN / IST dated February 18, 1949 to form a new district, the Sawahlunto / Sijunjung, with its Military Regent Sulaiman Tantuah Bagindo Queen. Then to perform their duties, Military Regent Sulaiman Tantuah Bagindo Queen held a meeting in Masjid Tanjung Bonai Tower Koto Aur. In this meeting attended Rustam Efendi (Head of Koto VII), Amir Mahmud (War Wali Nagari Limo Koto), M. Syarif Gold Mountain Datuk, Datuk M. Zen Bijo Dirajo, Hasan Basri and the Dervish (Koto VII District Office staff), Marah Tayab , Forward Arif, M. Saman, Ahmadi, Malin Dubalang (Wali War Bonai Nagari Tanjung Aur), Datuk Saidin Perpatih Suanggi, Jamiruddin Mantari Sutan, Jasam title Datuk Pandito Sampono and White. On February 28, 1949 held a fuller meeting, attended by community leaders and commanders front Sawahlunto regency / Sijunjung. Here, Tantuah Bagindo Queen, according to SK Military Governor of West Sumatra No. 49 / G.M.Ist-1949 dated February 18, 1949, inaugurated a Military Regent of Sawahlunto regency / Sijunjung. On May 17, 1949, the government of the Republic of Indonesia held an emergency meeting at the Holy Sumpur continued with a special meeting on Sawahlunto regency / Sijunjung. Furthermore, through the plenary session of Parliament Sawahlunto regency / Sijunjung, dated 25 November 1982 agreed on 18 February set as the anniversary of Sawahlunto regency / Sijunjung issued in a decree of Parliament No. 13 / KPTS / DPRD-SS / 1982 on the anniversary of Sawahlunto regency / Sijunjung , Subsequent developments in the year 1984/1985 Sawahlunto regency / Sijunjung which originally consisted of nine districts, divided into 13 districts. Sub-district consists of a parent, District Talawi, Sawahlunto, Holy Sumpur, Koto VII, IV Nagari, Sijunjung, Tanjung Tower, the Arbor Island and District Koto Baru. Recently through local regulations Sawahlunto regency / Sijunjung No. 8 of 2000, District Representative Sijunjung in Lubuk Tarok amended definitive status to districts with the District Lubuak Tarok name. Inaugurated on August 28, 2000 by the Regent of Sawahlunto / Sijunjung.


According to the identity and diversity of society and the cultural pattern Sawahlunto regency / Sijunjung, agreed motto 'area where the earth is stepped on it the Romans' contained in the board of SK 14 / DPRD-SS / 1987 dated November 5, 1987. The decree was passed by the Minister of Home Affairs on 23 November 1988 No.SK.050.23.815. So from 12 districts held Sawahlunto regency / Sijunjung before the expansion, now only eight, namely Sub Kupitan, Koto VII, Holy Sumpur, Sijunjung, IV Nagari, Lubuak Tarok, Tanjung Tower and the District of New Kamang.

Djamaris Yoenoes (1966-1980), Col. Inf. Noer Pamuncak Bahri (1980-1990), Col. Inf. Zalnofri (1990-1995), Col. Inf. Syahrul Anwar (1995-2000), Col. Mar. (Ret) Darius Apan (2000-2010) and Yuswir Arifin (2010-present).
